Built in 1869, Norway congregations "Church on the Hill" is set
amidst the Norway Hill Cemetery on the highest point in Racine County. The quaint cream city brick
church in it's original rural setting is the second of three churches built by the
congregation. The beautiful altar and original stained glass windows make it a favorite site for
weddings an baptisms.
Visitor Experience
Visitor Experience:
Visitors will enjoy the view from the church, overlooking the town of
Norway. Guides will relate the story of the Norwegian congregation. The basement holds a small
museum and in the cemetery is the grave of Colonel Hans C. Heg, who organized the Norwegian
Regiment, part of the 15th Wisconsin Volunteers during the Civil War.
